As a follow-up to the Solo Safe video from last week, I thought I’d jump in and explain pre-fader sends in today’s video.

What other ways do you use Pre-Fader sends? Leave a comment.

    Great video Joe, as usual.

In addition to the headphone sends, I use prefader sends when printing effects to the same track. Not sure if you know that trick.

Are you talking about printing the effects in general?

    duplicate the playlist
use a prefader send to a bus
set the input of the track to the same bus (feedback loop)
    mute the track
    go into quickpunch mode
    play the section of music
sometime after the musical content of the selection go into record for a second.
    stop
trim the recorded region to the left, the chain of effects will be printed to the region.
you can now disable the plugins to save cpu.

Ah. Gotcha. Yep, I’ve seen that before. I have to say, having the “freeze” function in Logic was pretty nice.
