Understanding Pro Tools Released!

Last night’s webinar was a lot of fun. For about an hour we talked about Pro Tools and some of the reasons I use it. I’ve got a replay for those of you who weren’t able to make it.

Understanding Pro Tools

I’m proud to announce my latest tutorial video series. It’s called Understanding Pro Tools, and it features 9 HD videos, totaling over 3 hours of Pro Tools training.

Throughout the nine videos, I walk you through Pro Tools, showing you all the things I think you need to know. If you like the videos I post here on Home Studio Corner (and I’m up to over 50 of them now), then you’ll love Understanding Pro Tools. It’s a more in-depth, hold-nothing-back look at Pro Tools.

The price right now is $39.

I’ve posted the webinar replay on the order page, so head over there now and check it out!!

Why I Use Pro Tools [FREE webinar]

I don’t normally post on the weekends, but I wanted to give you a heads up on an upcoming webinar I’m having next week.

It’s called Why I Use Pro Tools.

It’s no secret that I’m a Pro Tools guy. Nearly all of my tutorial videos are done using Pro Tools. That’s not to say that if you don’t use Pro Tools you won’t find anyhing useful here on HSC.

The concepts of music production and recording technology are universal. All DAWs, whether it’s Pro Tools or Reaper, do essentially the same thing. The key difference is HOW they do it.

I’ve had the privilege of using and experiencing most of the major recording platforms out there. And I’ve come back to Pro Tools.

Thursday night I’ll tell you why, and you’ll also have an opportunity to get my new set of tutorial videos.

It’s free, but you need to register. Details here:

Ask Joe #18 – Page Scrolling in Pro Tools

I get lots of questions. This particular one made me want to do a video. Special thanks to Tom, one of my newsletter subscribers.

Ask Joe #16 – Using the Stock Digi Plug-ins

Trent from Indiana sent me a great question via the Ask Joe form. Let’s take a look at it:

Joe – I’m new to Pro Tools.  I have simple tracks that I just want to get down onto disc.  I have acoustic guitar, vocals, and might add mandolin or some more guitar parts.  I don’t want to color my tracks too much with the cheap plug-ins that came with my Pro Tools LE.  I’m wondering what you think is the best way to get these onto a disc without it being just a rough mix?  Hope I’m making sense.  Thanks.

A Common Assumption

Trent gives us an example of a common assumption in the home recording world. Most people believe that the plug-ins that come with your recording software are inferior by default. I would challenge this a bit.

Session File Management in Pro Tools [Video]

First things first…

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

My Christmas present to you? More hard drive space! (The crowd cheers!)

Let me show you how to manage your files in Pro Tools. I freed up a ton of space on my hard drive. You should too (to make room for all those pretty new plug-ins you got for Christmas).

Printing Effects and Instruments in Pro Tools [Video]

Have you ever hit a wall when recording or mixing? Sure you have. We’ve all gotten the dreaded “I can’t handle this; please increase your hardware buffer size” message from our DAW.

In this video I explain how to print some of your tracks/instruments and free up more processing.
