5 Mixing Hacks

I made a huge addition to my studio this weekend…a COUCH. I think it’s now officially a studio. I had to rearrange the entire room, move my desk to the other side, but it’s got such a cool vibe now. I’ll shoot a new studio tour video soon, I promise.

5 Mixing Hacks

Did you know I do a podcast with Graham Cochrane? Well, I do, and we’ve got a brand new episode, hot off the presses.

Graham and I talk about our five favorite mixing hacks, the things we do on EVERY mix that absolutely help us get better results.

HSC Best of 2011

Reflected FireworksIt’s hard to believe we’re finishing up another year. 2011 is almost in the books. Crazy.

It’s also wild to think that HSC has been around since the Spring of 2009. Thanks YOU for being a reader, a watcher, a subscriber, a fan, a follower, and a customer. Without you, this site would be boooooooring. :)

Maybe you’ve been around HSC for a long time, perhaps even since the beginning. Or you might have just found the site a few days ago. Either way, I’m glad you’re here.

I’ve compiled a list of my favorite posts from 2011. Kick back, grab a cup of coffee, and enjoy:

Here’s to a great 2012. Thanks folks!

VIP Session with Kevin Ward

If you don’t know Kevin Ward, you should.

He’s a mix engineer here in Nashville, and he runs the fabulous website MixCoach.com. Kevin has graciously agreed to join me on the next VIP Session and talk mixing with me and the rest of the VIP members.

It’s next Tuesday afternoon (Dec 27) at 3pm Central.

This is a private interview, exclusive for my VIP members only. If you want to become a member and have access to this interview (yes, it will be recorded) AND all the previous VIP Sessions, along with access to the members-only forum, then sign up here:

See you on the interview!

Big Honkin’ End-of-the-Year Sale

Everybody likes a good sale. We get all excited when a 20% off coupon comes in the mail to our favorite music store.

This ain’t no 20% off sale. This is buy one get one FREE.

And it runs until the end of the year…for the rest of 2011.

If you’ve been following HSC for a while, you know I rarely do sales. But when I DO have a sale, I want it to be epic. I want it to provide an insane amount of value to you. I want you to get a lot out of it.

Gear is Great

I love a good piece of gear — a shiny new microphone or a sexy new preamp. While I hope you get something awesome for Christmas, set aside some of your Christmas money to make sure you’re getting the most out of your equipment. All the new gear in the world doesn’t guarantee great-sounding recordings and mixes.

The difference? You.

Invest in Yourself

There are two basic ways to invest in your studio — you can invest in gear or you can invest in you. I recommend both. If you don’t have ANY equipment and couldn’t sit down and record something today, then please DON’T buy anything from me. You need some gear first.

If you have gear, however, chances are you already have everything you need to make fantastic recordings you can be proud to share.

So take advantage of this two-for-one sale and brush up on your skills.

You can find all the details and all the qualifying products here:

What are you gonna get and why? (Leave a comment below and let us know.)

12 Days of Christmas – Joe’s Giving Away Over $1,400 of Stuff

Believe it or not, Christmas is 12 days away. Yep. 12. Crazy, huh?

This year I decided to do a 12 Days of Christmas Giveaway. I’m giving away one of my products per day between now and Christmas.

If you added them all up, it comes to well over $1,400 of free stuff. How fun is that?!?!

This is my small way of saying thank you for making HSC possible. No seriously. Thank YOU. I’m glad you’re a part of this.

So before you get caught up in all the last-minute holiday shopping, head over to the giveaway page and drop your name in the hat.

Here’s the link:

New Training for VIP Members: Understanding Reverb & Delay

I’m doing a brand new training video next week. It’s called Understanding Reverb & Delay.

I’ll be doing it via live streaming session from my studio, where I’ll show you how I use reverb and delay in some of my most recent mixes. There are lots of little tricks that I’ve picked up over the years with regards to reverb and delay, and I’ll be sharing all of those with you next Tuesday night (October 25th) at 8pm Central Time.

Rather than selling it for $20-50 like I normally do, I’m creating it exclusively for my VIP members. That means if you’re already a VIP member, this training is free. If you’re not a VIP member, you can join here for just $5/month.

www.homestudiocorner.com/vip

If you’re reading this after the 25th or if you simply can’t make it to the live event, the recording will be posted inside the members area, so you can watch it whenever you want.

As a VIP member, you’ll also have access to:

  • All the previous VIP training videos (which we do once a month)
  • Private, members-only forum – a fun community of folks just like you
  • Other exclusive goodies – discounts, exclusive offers, private training, etc.

Join now. You’ll love it.
