Next VIP Session: Interview with Brent Milligan

Courtesy of The ElmsTomorrow Brent Milligan will be joining me and my VIP members for an exclusive interview.

Brent is a world-class producer here in Nashville and a super-cool guy. He has graciously agreed to sit down with me TOMORROW afternoon and do this interview.

Brent produced one of my favorite albums of all time, Beauty Will Rise by Steven Curtis Chapman (affiliate link). He’s also worked with folks like Ceili Rain, The Elms, TobyMac, Backstreet Boys, and Michael W. Smith.

On top of being a fantastic producer, Brent’s an accomplished musician (bass, cello, guitar, among others) and regularly tours with various acts he produces.

If you’re not a VIP member, it’s currently $5/month for full access to interviews like this one, a private members-only forum, and other special stuff. Click here to join.

Brand New Class: Recording Acoustic Guitar

If you’ve been following the blog this week, you’ve noticed a bunch of acoustic guitar talk.

That’s because next week I’m launching a brand new class: Recording Acoustic Guitar. Nothing super fancy, just 4 weeks of straight talk on getting great acoustic guitar tone.

It’ll be a combination of live webinars (weeks 1 and 3) and HD video downloads (weeks 2 and 4). If you can’t make the live events, no problem. It’ll all be recorded and available for download whenever you want.

This is for you if:

  • You struggle with recording acoustic guitar.
  • You want to feel confident whenever a client walks in with an acoustic guitar, knowing you WILL get a great tone.
  • You play acoustic guitar yourself (like I do).
  • You love recording ANY acoustic instruments

You can join today, only 100 spots are available. I’ll put the videos up for sale later, but they’ll be at a higher price.

3 Reasons to Join Today:

  1. Learn EXACTLY what you need to learn. The beauty of a live class is that YOU decide what direction we go. I’ll cover EVERYTHING I know about getting great acoustic guitar tones, but you’ll be able to ask questions and tell me EXACTLY what you want to learn about. It’s an awesome way to get the most for your money.
  2. Recording Evaluation – For everyone who joins for the live class, you’ll be given a challenge to record acoustic guitar in the next 4 weeks. On week 4, I’ll evaluate/critique everyone’s recordings.
  3. $20 Discount. Live attendees get in for $20 less than the normal price.

Make it a goal to start getting better acoustic guitar recordings. Go here now to join us!

FREE eBook – 31 Days to Better Recordings

It’s about time for me to release a new eBook. My last one, Home Studio Production: A Roadmap to Finishing Your Album, was really popular, but I wanted to take it a step further. I think more people would benefit from a more step-by-step approach to recording.

Enter 31 Days to Better Recordings.

This was a series I wrote last year, and now it’s available in a free 60-page eBook. All you need to do is sign up to my newsletter to get your copy.

Alright, go grab your copy! Here’s the link:

BIG NEWS: Simply Recording Academy

This is the first time I’ve ever done anything like this.

Since HSC started in Spring 2009, I’ve written a bunch of articles, put out a bunch of videos, and released a bunch of training products. They all have one thing in common — they’re digital.

I’ve only met a handful of HSC readers in real life, and any training I’ve done has been via the internet, through a computer.

Not anymore.

I’ve teamed up with Graham Cochrane of TheRecordingRevolution.com to do a live, in-person recording workshop, right here in Nashville, Tennessee.

It’s called The Simply Recording Academy. It will be a 2-day recording workshop. We’ll track a killer band the first day, then edit and mix the song the second day.

Only 10 spots are available. Find out all the fun details here:

(Oh, and today’s my birthday.) :-)

Behind-the-Scenes: Producing an Acoustic EP

For this month’s VIP Session (for my VIP members), I’m doing a behind-the-scenes look at an acoustic EP I recently produced for an artist/friend of mine.

She’s a very talented musician and songwriter, and the project turned out really well. She’s releasing it next month. (You can check out the samples on Amazon here.)

I wore several hats on this project: producer, engineer, and musician, and even online collaborator. Whitney’s a great guitarist, but she preferred that I play all the guitar parts. She also wanted to use her brother on a few songs…and he lives in another state.

I’ll be sharing things I learned from this particular project, including how to pull off a “less is more” approach to your next project. It’ll be a lot of fun.

If you’re not a VIP member yet, and you want to attend this live, streaming, high-quality VIP session, you can sign up here. See you Saturday!

VIP Session #2 – Recording & Mixing Drums Q&A (with Graham Cochrane)

This Saturday, April 16th, at 1pm CDT, I’ll be hosting a Q&A session with the awesome Graham Cochrane (@recordingrev) of TheRecordingRevolution.com.

The topic will be recording and mixing drums. Getting a great drum sound can be difficult, but it’s extremely important to work to develop this invaluable skill. After all, a great-sounding drum track can be the key to great mixes.

Graham has graciously agreed to take some time to share his wealth of knowledge with my VIP members.

This will be an exclusive, private Q&A session for Home Studio Corner VIP members. If you haven’t become a VIP member yet, you can find out more by clicking here.

See you Saturday!!
