Had this with my most recent session. I was recording guitars with a band, the lead vocalist/rhythm guitarist just wasn’t very tight at palm muting and the way he was playing notes within a chord sounded a little off. I was tempted to play his parts, but thought I’d just look really rude if I did. So I tried getting the best takes out of him.

The first song he wasn’t getting his parts tight enough, so I recorded up until a certain point and went onto the next song so he didn’t get bored/tired of recording the same thing over and over, then went back to the first song again to tighten stuff up. Worked a lot better this way, but I now have to do a lot of comping.
