Funny story.

I took my wife to an orthodontist the other day.

Since it was her birthday month, they gave her all sorts of goodies (including a cupcake that our one-year-old son promptly inhaled).

One of the gifts was a little calendar.

I was flipping through it, making fun of all the cheesy inspirational quotes, when I came across a DOOZY.

This one goes for the jugular.

And I thought, “I’ve GOT to share this with my HSC peeps.”

Here ’tis:

“If you really want to do something, you’ll find a way; if you don’t, you’ll find an excuse.”

Daaaaaaang. Them’s fightin’ words, right?

They should at least make you stop and think.

What do you want to do with your home studio? (Heck, what do you want to do with your LIFE?)

Do your “wants” match up with your actions?

Are you doing things to move you in the right direction?

Are you recording and mixing on a regular basis?

Or are you in a constant state of “getting ready” to do something big, something awesome, something you can be proud of?

Stop making excuses, and make great recordings instead.

Find a way.

Make it happen.

Life’s short. What do you want people to say about you?

Will they say that you were a person who had really great “ideas”?

Or will they say you followed your passion and made stuff happen?

I’ll take option #2. How about you?

Leave a comment and let us know.

Let’s stop making excuses and make some amazing music.

P.S. If you’re not sure how to go about taking action, try giving yourself a simple one-hour challenge. Set a timer and see how much you can accomplish in 60 minutes.

I just did this last week. You can watch the whole challenge (which turned out REALLY well) inside the VIP members area:

    • Hurts so good, right? 😉

    • Jon

      Right there with you, man.

      • Step 1 is admitting we have a problem. Haha. I’m as guilty as the next guy. I wrote this email to myself, too. 😉
