I’m typing this while watching the Foo Fighters: Back & Forth documentary. I’m a sucker for anything Foo Fighters.

I didn’t know a lot about the history of the band. Hiring and firing band members. Messy stuff.

It struck me that so many people will forego their dreams to avoid uncomfortable situations like firing a drummer. They throw out the baby with the bathwater. They give up all the upside to avoid any potential downside.

You can’t have one without the other.

I’ve disappointed people along the way. I’ve hurt feelings or just plain dropped the ball. And they’ve called me on it. It sucks. It makes you want to quit. To hide.

But hiding is worse.

Like the old saying goes, “’Tis better to have risked and failed than to have watched every single TV series on Netflix.”

Just embrace it. Things are gonna go sideways. Do the thing anyway.
