So Santa showed up last night.
He even woke me up to ask me a question.
“Every year,” he said, “I bring fancy gadgets to lots of girls and
boys. New microphones, audio interfaces, and lots and lots of
software plugins. And every year I get letters from these same boys
and girls, asking for more equipment.”
Then he let out a big sigh (like only a chubby old guy in a bright
red suit can sigh) and said, “Not once…not ONCE has any of them
mailed me a CD of an album they finished. All I get are letters
asking for more. I feel like I’m not really helping them at all…”
Poor old guy.
“It’s not your fault,” I replied.
“These little girls and boys just don’t really know what they need.
They’re like Bono. They still haven’t found what they’re looking
for. They have plenty of gear to make amazing recordings. The only
thing they’re missing is some guidance and a lot of practice.”
“But how can I give them THAT?” he asked, seeming almost hopeful.
“Just leave ’em a little bit of cash, and tell them to check out my
big 2-for-1 sale. I’ve got training products that can help them go
from dreaming about making great music to actually MAKING (and
finishing) great music. And if they buy before January 1st, they
can get two products for the price of one.”
Santa nodded, “That sounds like the answer we’ve been looking for.
Where can they find out more?”
“Tell em to go to
for more info.”
And just like that, he was gone.
What a funny guy.
